Historical

The purpose of the White Lake Historical Society is to bring together people interested in the history of the township. The Society shall serve to preserve and advance knowledge about the history of White Lake. The Society shall collect, arrange, preserve and restore historical materials including buildings, books, pamphlets, maps, charts, manuscripts, papers, photos and copies of records in order to procure and preserve narratives of the early pioneers, their exploits and perils. We will assist other historical societies in gathering historical materials pertaining to White Lake township and its early settlers.

The White Lake Historical Society was established in 1987 as an outgrowth of celebrating the sesquicentennial of White Lake Township (1836- 1986). Marge Sawruk suggested that one of the events to celebrate the sesquicentennial be an old fashioned festival to be held at the Kelley-Fisk Farm property that was owned by the township. The first festival was held in 1986 and has continued annually since.
