The White Lake Township Police Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Police Officer. In this role, officers enforce laws, patrol assigned areas, and work to maintain order while protecting life and property within the community. Responsibilities include responding to emergencies and calls for service, conducting criminal investigations, interviewing victims and witnesses, gathering evidence, and preparing clear, detailed reports. Officers must exercise sound judgment in determining when to detain, search, arrest, or use force, and are expected to safely operate emergency vehicles in routine and high-stress situations. The position also involves assisting the public, resolving conflicts, regulating traffic, and testifying in court as required.

 

Candidates must possess at least an associate’s degree (bachelor’s preferred), be MCOLES certified or certifiable, and hold a valid Michigan driver’s license. Strong communication skills, the ability to build positive relationships, and the capacity to remain calm under pressure are essential. Officers must be physically fit and capable of performing demanding duties such as running, lifting up to 120 pounds, and engaging in activities like climbing, crawling, and restraining individuals. This position requires shift work, including days, afternoons, midnights, weekends, and holidays. Additional duties may include community outreach and other assignments as directed by department leadership. Starting wage at $65,245 with a six-month and yearly increase.
