Deputy Fire Chief
White Lake Township Fire Department is seeking a full-time, exempt, non-union Deputy Fire Chief to serve as a key member of the executive leadership team. Reporting to the Fire Chief, this position provides oversight of fire and EMS training, supervises command staff, supports labor relations and contract administration, assists with budgeting and strategic planning, and ensures compliance with all applicable regulations.
The Deputy Fire Chief assumes full authority of the Fire Chief in their absence and responds to major incidents as part of the incident command structure. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 15 years of fire/EMS experience, including at least 5 years as a supervisory officer, a bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred), and required state and professional certifications, including Fire Officer III, Fire Instructor II, and Michigan Paramedic licensure.
The salary range is from $110,000-$112,000 and includes generous paid time off and holidays, plus comprehensive health insurance benefits. Insurance benefits include optical, dental, and life insurance. The Township also belongs to the MERS defined benefit pension plan.
