Building Permit Applications & Guidelines
Permit Application Process
The Building Division can process permits via email or in person.
PLEASE NOTE: The Building Department is not currently available on BS&A Online; however, we can process permit applications electronically and offer online payment options. You will NOT be able to apply for permit applications or schedule inspections through B&SA Online at this time.
For permits submitted via email, we'll process the permit and send you back the invoice information and a link for online payment. If you are dropping off an application in person, please have your forms completed prior to entering the building.
Contractor Registration
Contractor registration needs to be up to date prior to permit issuance. Contractor registrations are good for one (1) calendar year. Registration can be processed concurrently with a permit application in order to expedite processing time.
If you are using a contractor to complete your project, the contractor should be pulling the permit. The Building Division can verify if a contractor has been registered with the Township prior to you pulling a permit. Contractor Permits vs Homeowner Permits
Inspections
All mechanical, electrical and plumbing permits include two (2) inspections as a part of the required application fee. Additional inspections beyond the included inspections will be added on and must be paid prior to finaling the permit. Inspections can be requested by calling 248-698-3300 ext 2. or online via our inspection request portal HERE.
