Youth Police Academy

White Lake Township Police Department continues its efforts to serve the citizens of White Lake Township and its surrounding communities through the Y.P.A.. The White Lake Police & Huron Valley School District Y.P.A. will be open to middle school students that live in White Lake, Commerce, Milford, or Highland, or that attended a Huron Valley middle school.

The Y.P.A. is a 40 hour instructional program designed to expose participating students to the qualifications, education, training, and personal dedication required of Law Enforcement Officers. Over the course of the two week Y.P.A., students will be exposed to the various characteristics required of a Law Enforcement Officer.

Those characteristics include, but are not limited to:

• Leadership
• Teamwork
• Physical fitness
• Good Decision Making
• Integrity

The Y.P.A. will also expose students to the various skills needed by those that pursue the law enforcement field, including, but not limited to:

• Defensive Tactics
• Firearms Safety
• Driving Safety
• Corrections
• Traffic Enforcement
